About the Program Area

The Indigenous Country and Governance (ICG) unit is within the Research and Education
Group. The ICG team produces, shares, and supports research and services and activities
in relation to native title, cultural heritage, land rights, Indigenous governance, land and
sea management, and international rights. The team works closely with stakeholders in
the native title sector to ensure the work of ICG aligns with the needs of the sector,
particularly those of native title organisations.

About the Role

As an Administration Officer, you will be responsible for daily the management of
administrative tasks related to the work of the Indigenous Country and Governance (ICG)
team.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Assistance in the recording and tracking of progress against activities under the
ICG workplan.
  • Provision of secretariat support in relation to ICG meetings and events.
  • Management of email and other incoming inquiries made to the ICG,(including re-
direction and escalation of enquiries as appropriate).
  • Records management, including file management, minute-taking and recording

and compilation of relevant data to assist ICG comply with reporting
requirements.

This position will be filled using the Affirmative Measure provision, which allows for the
targeted recruitment of Indigenous Australians into the Australian Public Service. The
vacancy is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. The filling of this
employment opportunity is intended to constitute an Affirmative Measure under section
8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975.

use that national collection to strengthen and promote knowledge and
understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage;

provide leadership in the fields of:

o Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research; and

o ethics and protocols for research, and other activities relating to
collections, related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples; and
use (including use for research) of that national collection and other
collections containing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and
heritage;

lead and promote collaborations and partnerships among the academic, research,
non-government, business and government sectors and Aboriginal and Torres
